If you’re on a mission to launch your newsletter, here’s my course on how to do it in just 7 days!

As I’ve mentioned, the Friday Report is my baby and a great way to create consistency in my life.

But before I had even thought about sending out a consistent newsletter and way before I knew I’d be an entrepreneur, I was already growing my email list.

Why even bother creating an email list?

  1. A large social media following is cool, but you don’t own access to your followers nor the content you post. You do own your email list, though. Even if it’s just hosted in a Google Sheet (as mine was for many years).
  2. There are some things we don’t want to share to the masses. I find that emailing my list is a bonus way for me to show up authentically and without fear of judgement. The people choose to subscribe because they really do wanna hear what you have to say.
  3. You can segment your list and tailor your emails by interest. Not everyone wants to hear about all that you have to offer. Email marketing allows you to really niche down on your audience and see what resonates with them.

Here are 3 easy steps to building your own email list:

  1. Collect emails. You can even do this for free so no excuses. You can use the free plans for ConvertKit + Mailchimp or you can create a simple Google Form or TypeForm. Here’s my ConvertKit affiliate link if you’d like a free trial for ConvertKit (I receive a commission if you decide to subscribe).
  2. Create a landing page. If you’re using an email marketing platform like ConvertKit, creating a landing page takes no more than 5 minutes. Include a quick headline and note about what your subscribers can expect to hear about or who you are and boom! You’re official.
  3. Put that link in all of your social media bios and bonus: put it in your email signatures.

That’s it! And you didn’t even break a sweat. 😰 This entire process takes no more than an hour. If you’d like more guidance as your create your list, this course will guide you through it all.

As a bonus, export your many Gmail contacts and add them to the list if you want a head-start.

Note: I didn’t mention anything about sending a newsletter. Do that when you’re good and ready. But don’t use not being ready as an excuse to not start your list.

Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready,
Maegan
