Strive for continuous improvement, instead of perfection.

— someone named Kim Collins, but anyone could say this so whatever.

Bonsoir!

My goal of the week/my whole Black life has been to let go of perfection.

I initially was inspired in 2020 to let go of perfectionist standards by my friend Ari. She often acknowledges that there will be typos in her posts, emails, etc. and gives no fucks about it.

That leads me to now. I can’t even tell you how many failures I’ve had this week between delayed Google Calendar integrations and wonky ConvertKit sequences.

You know what happened as a result of all those failures tho?

Not a damn thing.

I spent my 20’s in the startup world (#LivingSocialForever) and one of my favorite mantras is “fail fast”. I want to mess up at as many things now as I possibly can. I felt so annoyed at first about my customers receiving poorly-timed emails this week, but that it was so helpful because guess who understands ConvertKit sequences now? Meeee.

Since those errors occurred, I’ve ran multiple test sequences to make sure I’m ready for the next one.

So if you’re stuck on being perfect — I get it. Trust me I do, but you gotta let that shit go. The world won’t end if you fuck up, I promise you. And the best part is, you get to learn from every mistake that you make.

And luckily for me I created a whooole business based on all of the things that I’ve learned as a result of my many failures. 😉

And if you needed further inspo to let that quest for perfectionism go, peep this IG Story that The Economist, an internationally known publication, posted with a typo this week.

Let’s dive in!

  • Coinbase is filing for its IPO soon and the fact that they’re a fully remote company with no official HQ on the filing warms my anti-corporate heart.
  • The most recent episode of #RHOA was 🤯. If you watched, this shady ass clip made me giggle.
  • I’m all about drug decriminalization because psychedelics literally save lives and the War on Drugs is one of the greatest failures to ever do it, but this is….interesting.
  • I wish I could explain how annoying it is when mainstream media comes across vernacular that my friends and I have been using since conception as some new trend. Just stop. 🙄 We are the culture. The end.
  • There are so many reasons I can think of to not live in Alaska, but this wins.
  • I knew Rush Limbaugh was a piece of shit, but his terror reign was when I was younger so I didn’t really get it until he passed this week and I started reading tweets about him. If you’re unaware, this podcast is a great summary.

What’s up with me?

  • I’ve been BUSY BUSY. Like…I’m exhausted. But in a really great way. Accomplished if you will. February 2021 has been my most profitable month of all time since I ditched working for the man and I think it’s no coincidence that this was “No Help February”. (Sidenote: my therapist laughs at me every-time I mention my “no help” challenge because I chose the shortest month of the year to do this. 😅 I’m a giver, what can I say?)
  • I hosted the first Productivity Party and it was everything I could have ever asked for and more! I tipsily watched the playback that night and was like DAMN, MAEGAN! You did that. You can join the party for just $4.99 per month.
  • There are 2 days left of the For the Love of Money Challenge and it has been sooo much fun to share the experience with all of the participants. I’m so proud of everyone for sticking it out and the feedback has been loooove. I’m going to run the challenge again so respond to this email if you’d like to receive a notification when it drops.

Track of the Week

In honor of the dismantling of Daft Punk, my song of the week is ‘One More Time’. This video that reviews how the sample was created is absolute gold.

And that’s it for me! March is a back-end month and will be spent welcoming not 1, not 2, but FOUR interns to my team. 🤓

I’m off to a friend’s to drink some Maezcal and lounge hard. I hope you’re relaxing just as much.

Until next time…
Maegan
