📨 Friday Report XLIV — 11.5.21
Quote of the Week
“The moment you start to slide, you’re shoveling against the tide.”
-Thank you, Eliza for this reminder to take breaks.
What’s up?!
Lots of new homies here! If this is your first Friday Report, welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride and if you ever wanna hit reply, I’d love to hear from you. ❤️
My theme of the week is detachment. At the start of the week, it was detaching from old ways of thinking. Today it was detaching from my shades because I left them in a cab.
I only lose things when I’m flustered so I’m high key annoyed, but they’re just an item, right? Just a possession? 🙄 Whatever.
During a coaching call, one of my Bootcamp Besties mentioned that she aspires to help people work with who they are rather than trying to be a “better” version of themselves and I was like “worddd!”
What if I just accept that I’m materialistic AF and I’m really salty about my shades? 😂
No but really. What if we accepted the “less-than-favorable” qualities about ourselves instead of fighting it?
For example, I’m a stereotypical stubborn Taurus. A bull in every sense. And people have tried to throw that in my face throughout my life.
And I’ve always taken it as a compliment.
I’m stubborn with my goals. I’m stubborn with my morals. I stubbornly (and unapologetically) go after whatever I deem is mine.
And that could never be a negative to me. So what if I apply that thought process to my other could-be-flaws and use those characteristics to my advantage?
So yea…lots of detachment vibes this week. Not to mention I’m detaching from this Maexican chapter of my life and next week will sending this from mi nuevo hogar.
Before you take your power back and redefine what a “flaw” means to you…
Let’s dive in!
- Last week I raved about Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx. Thank you, Lovell, for reminding me of her How I Built This episode which — fun fact — was the first episode of HIBT.
- What really makes people happy? Peep this thread.
- Black church really is the best church. 😂
- Are Craigslist vacation rentals always a scam? (You know I love a scam story!)
- “How to speak for people to understand you.”
- Before this video about how human life drastically changed with the importation theft of coffee and tea, I had never heard of coffee houses. Did you know Oxford University was founded off of a coffee house?
- Ever wonder how American wheat took over Asia? Probably not, but this podcast is a fun history lesson.
What’s up with me?
- On Wednesday I hosted my best-selling workshop of all time, Habits Maed Easy. Judging by the feedback, it was also my most impactful workshop to date. The price goes up Monday so grab your replay.
- Today I arrived at a cute beachside bungalow resort 20 minutes outside of Playa. I led a goals-based workshop for my homie’s retreat and got to bond with a great group of women.
- I’m steady on my mission to wrap up certain projects and with the pace I’ve been keeping, I’ll get it all done before I dip out on Thursday.
- Fasting once a week is going so well for me and healing my gut, especially when I eat something I’m not supposed to. I fasted for 43 hours between Friday night and Sunday afternoon and felt sooo good. I’m debating a coconut water fast every Monday. TBD.
- I’ve been busy building my brand. I met with a trademark lawyer, been working on creative and imagery…. In 2021 I put my name on everything. In 2022 I’m putting my face on everything. In my own way.
Track of the Week
This is a Travis Scott stan account so this was an easy choice: Mafia by Travis Scott secretly featuring J Cole has been on repeat for about an hour. Listen on…

I’m off to have dinner on the beach and tomorrow I’ll spend the day with 10ish women doing hippie shit in a cenote. While I’m excited to go, we have to leave at 9:30am so I hope no one talks to me on the way there. Sorry not sorry — mornings are for silencio.
I’ve actually never been to a cenote because bats are my greatest fear so how fitting that I’d get to explore one during my last weekend here.
I’m SO excited for city energy and so excited that I get to discover a new place with you by my side. Next week I’ll let you know where I landed. Until then…
Stay detached,
Maegan
