Here’s Your Friendly Reminder to Start That Podcast
This year, in the midst of the annual New Year vortex I was feeling overworked and lost in my to do list. It’s a common struggle for business owners especially us newbies. Nothing felt fun and I was only fueled by the idea of clearing my to do list.
Then my homie Candace reached out and expressed that she was feeling the same. We decided to take responsibility for our entrepreneurial happiness by taking on a new creative project for the sake of having fun!
And Maed with Intention was born. It’s a limited podcast where we share our entrepreneurial journeys, life lessons and everything in between. You can check us out on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.
We’re just 4 episodes in and the feedback has been the greatest motivation ever to keep doing what’s fun. We’ve amassed great reviews, almost 2K views on YouTube and over 1000 downloads across platforms.
I don’t say that to boast, I say that as inspo. Your people want to hear from you and you deserve a fun project in the midst of your solopreneur grind.
Here are the 3 tools that we use to produce our podcast. Try them out, see if there’s a better alternative for you and dive in!
- Zencastr — We use Zencastr to record our podcast. It’s great because you get the audio and video files in one platform. For added visibility, we decided to upload our podcasts to our respective YouTube channels. You’re going to record anyway so why not diversify and share the video as well? You can also edit the audio within Zencastr for distribution.
- Canva — We use Canva to create our graphics. They have a bunch of podcast cover templates to choose from. Helpful-tip: create a wide image as well as a square one because you’ll need it. I suggest creating the square image first and then resizing into a wide header.
- Libsyn — We use Libsyn to distribute the podcast across platforms.
- Optional: Squarespace — I used Squarespace to create this Maed with Intention homepage to house each episode and links to different platforms.
You got this! Again, your people want to hear from you and by sharing your thoughts and ideas, you’re opening yourself up to a new consumer base. Everyone wins!
As a coach, the podcast has been a great way to highlight my expertise and on the business development front, it’s helped me be more effective with my talking points.
I was so nervous to dive into this new form of media and I’m so so glad I did!
